Innisfree - It's Real Squeeze Mask SHEA BUTTER Review
Jumping right into face mask review #2, today I picked up the Innisfree It's real squeeze mask in Shea Butter. I'm familiar with the popular Korean skin care brand and had always been curious about their products. I've heard great reviews about their Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask all over YouTube and wanted to test products from their other line. Their It's real squeeze mask comes in a large range to choose with 16 different variation including their more popular Kiwi, Cucumber and Green tea mask.
Innisfree is a popular South Korean brand that first established itself almost 20 years ago. Their stores largely spans across the Asian continent but I have found their products in Canada within the smaller makeup stores that carry their name. They are well known for being one of the few Korean cosmetic brands that use largely use natural ingredients in their product.
This mask was surprisingly very affordable - I found them sold separately for only $1.99 CAD. I believe there are packs of 15 found on Amazon for only $17 + shipping, so it's really not a bad deal at all. Definitely one of the cheaper brand named masks out there.
I love this packaging. The company is best known for promoting natural and organic ingredients and I love how they were able to portray this through their packaging. Their entire range features a simple wooden spoon scooping the product in it's natural form. It's clean and it doesn't have to fall to any gimmicks to catch your attention. It's small, thin and perfectly sized for traveling. Added bonus I love that it's matte.
The backside provides it's intended purpose which is to hydrate the skin from within and keep your skin healthy. For this particular mask it recommended leaving on for 10-20 minutes which i found shorter than usual.
The list of the ingredients on the back was, to my happy surprise, A LOT less than what I find listed compared to other beauty masks. There was significantly less preservatives and emulsifiers in the product compared to the other face masks I've used.
The natural ingredients are as followed
Shea Butter - All natural Vitamin A Cream that treats skin problems such as acne, eczema and signs of fine lines. It has soothing properties and provides great moisture for the skin.
Green Tea - Aids in Anti-aging and can help in reducing signs of sagging and wrinkles. Butylene Glycol - Anti-aging properties and naturally brightens the skin. Cactus - Controls oils and aids in preventing sun damage Orchids - Aids in reducing fine lines and wrinkles, moisturize and soothes the skin and acts as an anti-oxidant.
When I first opened the package I was a little blown away by how strong the smell was. It was surprisingly medicinal despite advocating for natural ingredients. The smell did disappear after placing the mask on my face - it seemed as if the smell was most powerful within the packaging.
The mask was made of a slightly thicker material than I would prefer because often I find that the thicker it is, the more trouble it has staying on.
Within the first five minutes the mask kept slipping off my chin and just had a hard time staying in place. 15 minutes after the application, I noticed that the mask had trouble attaching itself near my eye. The holes for the eyes are slightly smaller than the usual mask, which is great because it's able to cover a good portion of the skin near my eyes, but once it starts to dry, it ends up blocking my vision because it keeps popping up. 20 minutes after application the mask was pretty much dry - you would want to remove the mask at this point, otherwise it will try to absorb the moisture from your face back into itself.
My face felt refreshed and cold after I removed the mask. It was hydrated and i definitely felt the shea butter at work - it didn't leave an oily film as you would think from such a creamy product, but it did leave a nice smooth coating. My skin felt very soft, but not necessarily tightened as I would believe it to be with so many anti aging natural ingredients. However, for a product that is primarily natural, it is overall very impressive.
I woke up the next day with almost no redness to my face. I normally get some red spots around my cheek area and my nose but I was surprised to find that my skin's complexion was very even. I'm quite certain this was from the hydrating properties of the mask and I have to say I'm quite impressed! I didn't like how the mask was so thick and didn't stick onto my face well, but I can't complain about the results - and for $1.99 a pack, there's really no wrong here. A mask I would definitely repurchase in the future.
